Lieber Park
Dedicated February 21, 2023

A Neighborhood Vision Becomes a Reality
Lieber Park began as the first community project of the newly formed Three Bridges Neighborhood Association. At the corner of Northeast 27th Street and Coral Gardens Drive, the small park offered a shady canopy, but it had little more than a couple of benches and a dog waste station. At night, it was dark and felt unsafe.
Three Bridges set out to make the park a brighter, more welcoming place for neighbors to enjoy. After discovering that Pamela Lieber and her husband had planted the trees that created its beautiful canopy in the early 1970s, the association held a community vote to rename it Lieber Park in their honor.
Founding president Roger Cruttenden secured a $12,500 AARP Community Challenge Grant and led the project to install lighting in the trees, add hardy macho ferns, install a dedicated wayfinding sign, and bring a Little Free Library to the park. Roger and fellow board members helped build the library with a Fort Lauderdale volunteer group, and Roger returned to help paint it.
On February 21, 2023, neighbors and city officials gathered to dedicate Lieber Park—a lasting example of what a community can accomplish.
